Dealing with tragedy is an all too common experience for pastors. During such times, a pastor may feel overwhelmed at the senseless nature of the event, or at a loss to give a word of comfort that might speak to the depth of grief.
Holy Week was filled with holy moments as, for four days, I visited "those who were sick and in prison." My 90-year-old mother lives in an Alzheimer's unit. The staff must lock the doors to keep the patients from wandering.
As ideal as it may seem, having a totally predictable life would be a real drag. Bring on a healthy dose of variety--even some serendipity (surprise discoveries)--to shake things up and keep us 'on our toes!'
